The Website Testing project gives our community a way to actively participate in testing major websites around the world. Since the primary focus of web browsers are parsing all different kinds of web pages and applications, the project can help to make Firefox more stable and functional.

Project Details

The initial release of the Website Testing project occurred during the development cycle of Firefox 3 but was only run by a couple of employees and contributors. As a result we did not receive much feedback and that hasn't helped us to to get a better view of how Firefox behaves on different banking, financial, or shopping sites. That issue had to be addressed.

With the new web based version we want to give website testing a new look and broaden the interest in having people from all around the world help in this effort. Everyone who is interested is welcome to check if his/her major websites, primarily those which need accounts to be functional, are working as expected. It is free to join and you can help to make Firefox better than it already is!

How you can help...

The only thing you really need is a web browser based on Mozilla technology and at least some free time and interest. It doesn't matter on which platform or device you run these tests - we are interested in all feedback. The more information that can be identified and reported to the developers or evangelism team, the more we to continually improve the product. So hop on board the train and test one of the following applications:

• Firefox 3.0
• Firefox 3.5 (beta)
  
• Fennec

How do you start?

Browse normally just like you do each and every day. Check for anything abnormal you can see. Whether it's a small layout issue or some broken functionality, report it and it will be investigated. For a detailed list of steps check out the testplan which is attached to the company specific feedback page on the results tracking page.

How can you give feedback?

To be able to give feedback you have to create your own account on the results tracking page first. After you have activated the account you can log on and check the list of available companies which are separated by country. If the country or company you are searching for doesn't exist, drop an email with a suggestion (the link can be found on the start page). We will add new entries after verification as soon as possible.

When the wanted company is available, go to the last column in the results table and click on "Feedback." You will be forwarded to a form where you can enter all necessary information. If something is broken please also provide a comment which explains the exact issue. That will help us to identify the problem. We will get in contact with you if something is unclear.

We want to improve the project continuously. That means if you have suggestions or ideas how to make the interaction better please post your ideas under this forum post.

Please note: Even with the integration into the QMO website we cannot offer a single login right now.
